Dance Uárhukua Ch’anakua
View
The Uárhukua Ch’anakua is a symbolic representation of the creation of the universe according to Purepecha mythology.
In this ritual dance, the cosmic game between the major gods in the celestial vault is evoked, where the stars and luminous bodies are moved by their divine hands.
It all began with the lighting of the new fire, ordered by Kurikaueri, the god of the sun and war, who established the balance of the cosmos and gave birth to life.
This sacred dance not only narrates the origin of the universe, but also the eternal cycle of life, death and renewal. With movements that imitate the rhythm of the stars and choreographies that represent the dance of the stars, the Uárhukua Ch’anakua is a bridge between the earthly and the celestial, where fire, the central element, symbolizes continuity and light in the midst of darkness.
Through this dance, the Purepecha community keeps alive its connection with the divine, remembering that everything in the universe is interrelated and that the cycle of existence is constantly renewed under the watchful eye of the gods.
